Although, I did not grow up in the 1960's I can relate to The Who's song "Want Get Fooled Again" when it comes to our political system. It seems like the majority of our citizens will line up to vote for the same old political parties pushing the same old sales pitch. With our country so far in debt and I waiting for someone to say, "Enough of is enough." Even the great FOX NEWS does not push the issue when interviewing politicians. (I do not expect CNN, ABC, CBS or NBC to ever be responsible enough to actual care about anything but the socialists’ agenda set up by the Democratic Party. I omitted MSNBC because they have as many viewers as this Blog).

President Reagan had it right when he described Congress as "Drunken' Sailors" on shore leave for the first time in months when it comes to spending. Where does it say the federal government has the right to spend money on a museum? This should be a local or state issue. Let the state or local authorities pay for it if it is that important to them.

Another issue with the federal budget is why do we subsidize so many programs. We pay farmers not to farm (decrease supply, increase prices) and then we subsidize the purchase price (decrease price) to help the consumer. Let the market adjust the rate and keep the government out market.

If nuclear power is so much better to use then why does the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) need to be subsidized? If I read the 2008 budget correctly TVA is receiving $25,026,000,000 in 2008 to produce power. Keep the government out of the market and we would probably see more solar powered systems used. In my opinion if more people used solar power more companies would produce the product and lower the costs to consumers. (Remember how calculators- basic model cost $400. Now you can get a laptop for that price).

The big question I want to ask is what one citizen can do to change the way our Congress spends money? Economist Thomas Sowell and even George Washington (Farewell Address) hinted to the fact we may need to have the military clean up the mess our politicians have created. Feel free to write back if you have the answer.
